  The Scenario In the present scenario of industrialization, the task of motivating the future generation entrepreneurs is the focus of attention throughout the State. Considering the real need, the Directorate of Micro & Small Scale Enterprises, wants to adopt more intensive services for elimination of communication gap. Before planning to go for setting up of any S.S.I., strong determination and calculated risk taking ability are must and form the basic strength of it and the proponent. The product identification should be in respect of its technical and economic aspects and particularly its smooth marketability. Prime consideration in most of the products should be availability of local raw materials, skill and items in and around the zone of operation may be tried into.


  • The Government of West Bengal on 18th June 2007 has notified a scheme specially for Micro and Small Scale Industries which have commenced their production on or after 2-10-06 and the scheme will continue till 31-12-2012.
  • The Districts are divided in categories like "A", "B", "C", "D" according to present INTENSITY of INDUSTRIES. Burdwan being industrially advanced has been categorized as "B". The relief and other benefits for "B" category District are tabled here under.

  • Apart from the benefits shown therein entrepreneurs under Women, SC, ST, SHG are entitled additional benefit of 10% in all items except waiver of electricity & Patent Registration.
  • However, the scheme of 2004 would continue up to 2009 and units coming in production before 01-04-07 or after may opt for benefits under that scheme if deemed fit.
